Housing is a huge issue nationwide – is there enough of it? Is the quality acceptable? And is it affordable? It’s often assumed that housing problems primarily affect younger people, but issues relating to housing are important to older people too.
Are you interested in new approaches to housing solutions and making homes ‘age friendly’? Have you seen an innovative way of providing housing for older people and would like to share it? We’re looking for individuals to share their knowledge, experiences and ideas for next steps at our event ‘Age Friendly Homes: Building Solutions Together’.
This event will be taking place on Wednesday 9th May 2018 at the Novotel Bristol Centre Hotel from 10:00am to 1:00pm. You can find out more about the event and book tickets here.
One of the focuses of BAB’s Age Friendly Bristol project is making sure that older people in the city have suitable accommodation that meets their needs. We’re taking a solid step in that direction by running a housing event focusing on older people.
We will be inviting a wide cross-section of people to participate; including housing workers, housing associations, home builders, landlords, age-related charities and more. We want different experts from the sector to showcase projects they are working on or have seen, as well as give guidance to how we can go forward.
It’s not just about hearing from the experts, however. In addition to the learning sessions, we’ll also be facilitating group work to share good practice, pin down the most important housing issues facing older people today – and what we as a sector can do about them.
