When is it happening?
The event is on Wednesday the 25th of July, starting at 10:00 and finishing at 14:00.
What is the purpose of this event?
Bristol Ageing Better has been working with the City Council and partners to get Bristol recognised as an Age Friendly City by the World Health Organisation.
To gain status as an Age Friendly City, we have been building up an action plan that will demonstrate what Bristol is currently doing as a city to help older people, and also what needs to change in the city to make it even better for older people in the future.
This strategic document is in its final stages and we would like to invite you to give your input before we submit it to the World Health Organisation.
What is the format of the event/what will you be asked to do?
The event will begin at 10:00 and finish at 14:00. There will be different discussion tables that will represent the 9 domains that the Age Friendly Bristol programme focuses on. These 9 domains are:
Outdoor Spaces & Buildings
Respect & Social Inclusion
Communication & Information
Community Support & Health Services
We will provide overviews of the work to date, and what the proposed action plan currently says.
We are running this event because we want to check that the application truly reflects the situation in Bristol. Are we missing anything? Do you think these actions seem realistic?
You will have freedom to move around between the discussion tables. Don’t feel tied to one discussion table. We want you to input on as many domains as you’d like to. You can spend as short a time or as long a time as you’d like on any discussion table.
Who should attend?
Anyone can attend. We would like to get as much input as possible.
Why is this important?
We are working closely with the City Council on this project so whatever is included in the action plan will been seen by the City Council. This is your opportunity to help create real change in the city of Bristol for older people.
Where will it happen?
The event will take place at The Watershed from 10:00 to 14:00. Lunch will be provided.
