Civic Participation & Employment

Older people can access the work and volunteering opportunities that they want. Older people feel heard and have a say in decision making on things that affect their lives.

Civic Participation & Employment

Vision: Older people in Bristol feel heard and have a say in decision making on things that affect their lives.

"It would be nice to have more of an influence on what goes on in our local community, but how are we supposed to do that?"

Older people know how and where they can be involved in making local decisions.

Groups and forums are easily accessible to older people so that they can join to voice their opinions.

How can you ensure that older people's needs are taken into considerations before decisions are made?

Vision: Older people in Bristol can access the work and volunteering opportunities that they want.

"Donating just a little time to help a neighbour is what people should do more of and we need to realise that this is 'volunteering', just in a less formal way."

Organisations allow time out of work for employees to join volunteer groups before retiring from their job.

Older people in Bristol feel comfortable and confident in how to find out about volunteering and work opportunities.

How can you ensure that older members of the community will have volunteer opportunities that better suit their needs?
